The Austin/Morris/Leyland FG small lorries were not especially common with bus company ancillary fleets, but several were utilised by Northern Group. Photos can be very hard to come by and this one was no exception.
An early 1970's photo of a Gateshead Atlantean parked outside Bensham Works revealed a little gem sitting in the background painted in full Gateshead green livery, and under magnification a registration could be made out. Several other photos online show BET red FGs in depot shots, and withdrawn examples in Poppy red livery dumped at the rear of Stanley depot later in the decade. Unfortunately none can be identified and there is little other information available.

Photos below show the preparation stages as well as the finished article.
