Barnsley was in the 1990's one of the most exciting places to see Leyland National vehicles in a variety of liveries. As part of Yorkshire Traction's empire, Barnsley & District was formed in 1990 through the acquisition of Wombwell-based independent Tom Jowitt Travel. There were already Nationals in the fleet, including an early Alder Valley specimen. They were soon joined by a large number of natives operated by Yorkshire Traction, as well as a few assorted second (or third!) hand buses.
NetEvo has so far produced two Barnsley & District resprays. Fleet number 156 (SGR117R), formerly a United Auto vehicle, was released at the beginning of 2022 and is currently in stock. Fleet number 129 (THX166S), which had been London Transport LS166, came out in 2019 and is available to order by request.
